IFA 2023 (September 1-5, 2023, Berlin) is renowned as the premier innovation platform in the international technology sector. Artificial intelligence, robotics, sustainability, and connected living take center stage this year. And the trade fair itself is colossal, even larger than in 2022. All available exhibitor spaces across the 26 halls are fully booked.
From September 1st to 5th, 2,059 exhibitors from 48 countries will present their IFA offerings to industry professionals, media representatives, and consumers from over 140 nations. Almost all major brands will take part in the world’s leading trade fair for consumer electronics and home appliances. This achievement is remarkable, as the IFA 2023 continues to exceed expectations. The exhibiting companies have occupied a total of 130,000 square meters of gross exhibition space across 26 halls at the Berlin fairgrounds. As a result, IFA 2023 is both larger in terms of booked space and the number of exhibitors compared to IFA 2022.
In line with this growth, innovation takes center stage at this year’s IFA. The Innovation Hub IFA NEXT hosts around 350 startups – nearly three times the number from the previous year. The two-day debut of the IFA Leaders Summit brings together leading technology experts from around the world to discuss industry trends, from sustainability to the latest in robotics. As part of IFA’s collaboration with the #berlintechweek, the spotlight is on topics like AI and gaming.
Beyond technological innovations, visitors to IFA 2023 can look forward to a range of new experiences:
- The IFA Sustainability Village offers a firsthand experience of green innovations and new sustainability solutions. Leading technology experts also engage in discussions about timely environmental topics relevant to the industry and society at large. A volunteer team from Repair Café Zehlendorf will open the "Mend-and-Repair Shop" within the Sustainability Village, offering repairs for small electronic devices upon registration.
- The House of Smart Living showcases technologies that are already making households more sustainable today.
- The House of Robots features new AI-driven robots in action. Some of these machines will assist humans in leading more comfortable lives, while others blur the boundaries between the virtual and real world.
- A special treat for sports enthusiasts is offered by the visit of 1. FC Union Berlin at IFA 2023. On Monday, September 4th, the coaching team and players from the Berlin cult club will participate in penalty shootouts in the IFA Outdoors area. The audience can compete against FC Union’s Champions League players, take photos, and even win a team T-shirt.
Oliver Merlin, CEO of IFA Management GmbH, comments on the new experiential concepts: "IFA is always at the cutting edge and in early September, it becomes the meeting point for the international tech world. This year, we are introducing some new elements to allow visitors to experience the future of technology even more intensely. Thus, we are adding a new chapter to IFA’s rich history this year."
The significance of IFA for the technology industry is further emphasized by its timing, occurring just before the most lucrative sales season of the year – preceding Thanksgiving, Singles Day, Christmas, and Chinese New Year. As such, international trade is one of IFA’s main target groups. The IFA team continues to support trade visitors this year with numerous extra offers, information, and services.
