Visitors' attraction AR Art is an Event Highlight at the art festival SwissArtExpo

This Saturday, Zurich (Switzerland) will host an extraordinary art event showcasing AR art at its finest. As part of the SWISSARTEXPO 2023, which runs until September 10th, artworks from over 100 international artists are on display at the spectacular Zurich Central Station. One of the highlights is an AR sculpture created by Sarah Montani and Michaela Litzka. This co-creation blends real and digital art, presenting it in the great outdoors. Visitors can engage with the digital artwork on-site using their smartphones, bringing the artwork to life and even taking it home.

Amidst the diverse array of art at the SWISSARTEXPO (September 6th – 10th, 2023, Zurich), a duo of artists stands out: Sarah Montani, a digital pioneer and sculptor from Zurich (Switzerland), and Michaela Litzka, a renowned painter from Austria. In a joint effort, they created a unique piece of art in augmented reality (AR) and photographed it in the outdoors. The live AR photos are truly impressive. Visitors to the vernissage today can project the digital sculpture into the space on site with their smartphones, even take it home for free, and become part of a new art movement.

Starting with a painting by Michaela Litzka, transformed into a virtual sculpture by Sarah Montani, the artwork embarked on a journey in augmented reality (AR) around the globe. The resulting video installations and photos impressively document how the sculpture interacts with the physical world, creating new realities in the process. Particularly eye-catching are the shots of the digital sculpture in the Swiss mountain landscape and the wild nature of Iceland.

This innovative art project introduces viewers to the world of Live AR photography, considered an emerging art form. The sculpture itself was handcrafted without the use of artificial intelligence.

The vernissage takes place today, Saturday, September 9th, 2023, Zurich Central Station, from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM and is open to the public. Afterward, the sculpture and the images will travel to Venice for Arte Venezia at the Scuola Grande San Teodoro, San Marco, Campo San Salvador. The exhibition there runs from September 16th to 24th, with the vernissage scheduled for September 16th, 2023.
