It is one of the world’s largest science events: at Berlin Science Week 2024 (1 to 10 November 2024, Berlin), scientists, artists, socio-political actors and the public will come together in Berlin under the motto "Common Ground" to bridge polarization and find common ways to overcome global challenges. The interdisciplinary exchange – for example between art and science – is the focus of the science festival, as it is essential for progress. Most of the events on the 11 festival days are free of charge and open to the public.
The annual Berlin Science Week and the Falling Walls Science Summit, organized by the Falling Walls Foundation, aim to present the latest scientific breakthroughs and promote interdisciplinary discussions. Thought leaders from science, politics, business and society come together in Berlin to develop innovative solutions for the global challenges of our time. The numerous events on the festival days from November 1 to 10, 2024 are mostly free and open to the public.
The festival concept is decentralized: In addition to the two large festival hubs at Holzmarkt 25 and the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Berlin Science Week offers numerous events at various locations throughout Berlin. These include the innovative "Decision Theater", a very interesting, interactive format that will take place from November 5 to 7 at the Wissenschaftsforum Berlin. Here, participants can simulate the effects of political and social decisions in real time and experience them using scientific data.
On November 1 and 2, 2024, the "Museum für Naturkunde Berlin" (Museum for Natural History Berlin) will become the Berlin Science Week CAMPUS. The CAMPUS invites you to family-friendly exhibitions and over 30 events, including discussions, workshops and speakers' corners. Among the CAMPUS highlights is a panel at RWTH Aachen University with guests from science, literature, music and politics (November 2, from 7 p.m.) entitled "Common Sense, Common Science … Come on!", in which shared visions for a better future and the role of science will be discussed.
From November 3 to 10, the Science & Culture FORUM at Holzmarkt 25 will highlight the connections between art and science. From November 3, the "Tiny Galleries" will be open here, where guests can experience ideas and concepts at the interface of art and science. From 8 to 10 November, there will be a festival program on several stages simultaneously. Two further highlights at the venue are the Art & Science Conference on November 8 and the Closing Party on November 10, 2024.
