Future Fit BMW Welt Celebrates Reopening – New Phygital Immersive Experiences

Immersive experiences allow people to deeply engage in a multisensory, often "phygital" (i.e., physical-digital) world. This type of experience is made possible by the new BMW Welt App, which will be available to interested visitors of BMW Welt Munich, Germany, starting at the end of February 2025. After the completion of the location’s modernization, guests can also look forward to new experience areas, a stylish business area, and numerous event highlights.

The BMW Welt in Munich, a brand venue that showcases the entire BMW brand world, has completed its modernization phase. The reopening of the venue is celebrated with new experience highlights, including the innovative BMW Welt App. Sandra Wittemer, Head of BMW Welt, explains: "One highlight is the BMW Welt app, available at the end of February, which allows our venue to be discovered in a completely new, immersive way. Virtual tours, gamification, and detailed information about our vehicles make it the ideal companion for a visit to BMW Welt."

With the BMW Welt App, which will be available for download starting at the end of February 2025, a tour through the venue in Munich, Germany, becomes even more interactive. Guests will have access to a virtual tour with 16 stations, and the personal tour guide is an AI-generated avatar. The BMW Welt tour can be started at any time with the press of a button. Visitors can freely choose both the starting point and the pace of their tour.

If a BMW car particularly catches the eye during the tour, the new app offers the opportunity to experience it as a digital 360° model on the smartphone. For the innovative AR experience (Augmented Reality), simply activating the smartphone camera via the BMW Welt App and scanning a QR code at the exhibit is enough. If needed, detailed datasheets with all vehicle specifications are available for download.

In addition to these "phygital" experiences, the BMW Welt app also offers discounts for the store, restaurants and car rentals. A quiz, a scavenger hunt and the MINI Arcade are part of a big competition completing the value-added functions of the app.

On-site at BMW Welt Munich, there are also new attractions for the reopening, both permanent and temporary:

One example of a temporary attraction is the special campaign for the Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2025: Couples in love can enjoy a Kiss-Cam in the red BMW X3 and take photos at the Valentine’s photo backdrop on the MINI area.

An example of a new, permanent area is the BMW M Clubhouse. Here, the charm of a living room is combined with the motorsport fascination of a BMW M Garage. Highlights include the BMW M5 in a unique design by artist Fillin Guas, as well as a special sound installation that brings the famous German Formula 1 race track Nürburgring to Munich.

The Business Center at BMW Welt has also been redesigned: Starting on February 18, 2025, it will open its doors in a stylish new look for conferences, meetings, and other events. Elegant earth tones and golden accents create a modern, welcoming atmosphere.

The reopening also marks the start of BMW Welt Munich’s event calendar 2025.

Due to high demand, the popular yoga program will continue starting on February 22, 2025. Other event highlights include the children’s music theater "Frank and Bert" by the Bavarian State Opera (March 2, 2025), the PULSE opening event (March 8, 2025), and the kick-off event for this year’s Crime Festival (April 4, 2025, with the well-known Prof. Dr. Hendrik Streeck).

On April 27, there will be a "Sound Journey on Four Wheels" – a children’s concert at BMW Welt, a musical collaboration between the Munich Philharmonic and BMW. During the 2025 holiday periods, activities such as a traffic safety exercise by vr4kids are planned at the BMW Welt campus. In the fall, a new charging station for electric vehicles will be officially unveiled in the outdoor area of BMW Welt.
