World record events always exert a special fascination. When they are made of sweets, anticipation is even higher. At the German GLÜCKSGEFÜHLE music festival at Hockenheimring, tour operator schauinsland-reisen is planning the world’s largest Candy Beach. The new world record is set to be officially confirmed by the Record Institute for Germany (RID) on September 12, 2025.
From September 11 – 14, 2025, at the German GLÜCKSGEFÜHLE Festival, a large-scale "Candy Beach" will take center stage in the "Oasis of Happiness" (German: Glücksoase) by tourism company schauinsland-reisen, delighting festivalgoers with more than 1,000 square meters of immersive experience space.
On September 12 at 3:30 p.m., the record attempt will be formally reviewed on-site by the Record Institute for Germany (RID). Festival founders Lukas Podolski (soccer star) and Markus Krampe will be present to witness the moment. For them, record-breaking projects are nothing new: last year, a giant octopus made of 27,862 balloons decorated the Glücksoase by schauinsland-reisen (see cover image) – a world record also officially recognized on the spot.
At the Glücksgefühle Festival 2025, the over 1,000 m² Candy Beach will be the heart of the newly designed Glücksoase area, located right next to the EUPHORIA Stage. The event space draws inspiration from cinematic classics such Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The colorful wonderland in the middle of the Hockenheimring festival area will feature plenty of attractions: an LED dance floor pulsating in sync with the music, a moving cotton-candy cloud installation, multiple photo spots, sun loungers, and a fully stocked candy bar. The confectionery brands FRITT and hitschies will provide treats, and visitors can take home additional surprises.
Andreas Rüttgers, Head of Tourism at schauinsland-reisen, explains the idea: "We want to create places where people lose track of time. That applies to vacations just as much as to festivals. The GLÜCKSGEFÜHLE Festival is tailor-made for our vision of holiday happiness – unforgettable, colorful, and full of joy. The 'Glücksoase' should be a meeting place where everyone feels welcome and finds something that brings them happiness."
If the record attempt succeeds, the 200,000 or so festival-goers will be able to say that they were part of this extraordinary world-record event. On Friday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m., RID adjudicator Laura Kuchenbecker will decide whether the schauinsland-reisen Candy Beach is indeed the largest of its kind worldwide.
