On September 12 at 3:30 p.m., the record attempt will be formally reviewed on-site by the Record Institute for Germany (RID). Festival founders Lukas Podolski (soccer star) and Markus Krampe will be present to witness the moment. For them, record-breaking projects are nothing new: last year, a giant octopus made of 27,862 balloons decorated the Glücksoase by schauinsland-reisen (see cover image) – a world record also officially recognized on the spot.

If the record attempt succeeds, the 200,000 or so festival-goers will be able to say that they were part of this extraordinary world-record event. On Friday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m., RID adjudicator Laura Kuchenbecker will decide whether the schauinsland-reisen Candy Beach is indeed the largest of its kind worldwide.
