Ideas for Team Events How drones can inspire interaction at virtual and in-person events

With the ongoing pandemic, creative ideas for virtual team events are more in demand than ever. The German company dronevent offers interactive drone competitions for team building events – even if the team event can only take place remotely (e.g., digitally via video conference). But how does it work?

Using the slogan DRONE REMOTE! dronevent has developed a special drone parcours, in the center of which is a 50-meter-long competition area made of old pallets, construction fences, flutter tapes and other construction utensils – all in a large hall where even wind and fog can be artificially generated. The special highlight is that the drone course can be operated from anywhere in the world. The virtual drone event is moderated and accompanied by a dronevent employee via video streaming. A maximum of four teams of two players each can fly virtually in real time at the same time – while everyone else can follow the action live via webcams and comment and cheer on their favorites.

The virtual drone event has become very popular for (virtual) team events. For in-person events, it is also possible to book the drone competition as an on-site event program. Those who like can combine the drone competition with a drone building workshop in advance: the task is to first assemble an individual team drone from a LEGO kit before the competition starts.

Since 2018, dronevent GmbH, based in Krefeld, has been one of the pioneers in the German drone event industry. The goal of all drone-based competitions has always been to combine interesting technology with team building, including group dynamics and a lot of fun at a high quality level. With many "analog" teambuilding ideas using drones that even beginners can quickly operate, the team around CEO Ralph Kamp faced the challenge during the pandemic that in-person teambuilding events were largely scaled back. For this reason, the Drone Remote! concept for virtual team events was developed and successfully implemented.
