McDonald’s Germany will be represented at the GAMESCOM in Cologne for the fourth time. From August 24 to 28, 2022, the brand will once again be an exhibitor at the world’s largest exhibition event for computer and video games. As part of the "Better M" image campaign, the most important measures for greater sustainability will also be presented in a playful way this year. The highlight is the first McDonald’s Escape Room in the Better M-Cube.
The McDonald’s stand in Hall 8.1 at this year’s gamescom covers an area of 180 square meters. For the first time, the "Better M" Cube will be transformed into the official McDonald’s Escape Room. The concept was planned and implemented by LOCKED Adventures.
In the Escape Cube, and as part of the McDonald’s crew, the task is to solve various problems in a replica mini-restaurant in order to crack the "THE CUBE" high score in a battle against time. The winning team will win the legendary McDonald’s Gold Cards. In addition, McDonald’s will take visitors to its booth on a journey to a more sustainable future using AR (Augmented Reality) mini-games. The main themes here are plastic and waste reduction and the brand’s recycling program. On August 25, the stand will be visited by celebrities: gaming influencer Jasmin "Gnu" and the German comedian Kaya Yanar will be there to attract additional attention.
Markus Weiß, PR representative of McDonald’s Germany, says: "McDonald’s is everywhere where people are enthusiastic about doing things collectively. After three years, we are delighted to finally be represented on site again as part of the gaming community. McDonald’s stands for pop culture, but at the same time we want to show a target group that is so important to us that we take responsibility – for the environment and the society."
