How about if you, as a visitor of a traditional sports event, receive a prepaid wristband from the event’s sponsors that is ecological, recyclable and loaded with a certain amount of money that gives you some free benefits during the festival days? This idea will become a reality at the 2022 Swiss Alpine Festival (ESAF) – a traditional sports festival whose organizers are taking advantage of the opportunities offered by new payment technologies.
Using the claim "Changing the way people pay" the Swiss technology provider wearonize has become one of the market leaders for passive payment wearables in just two years. The new way of paying will now also be available at the traditional Swiss sports event ESAF 2022. The prepaid wristband is intended to combine tradition with innovation and delight all event guests who would like to make contactless payments using an ecological wristband.
As a partner of the Basellandschaftliche Kantonal Bank (BLKB), the wearonize AG is using the innovative payment method at the ESAF festival to make banknotes and coins, as well as classic voucher tokens, obsolete. The payment wearables will be available for visitors to the major event in Pratteln in the Basel region from August 26-28, 2022. To combine comfort and ecology, wearonize manufactured the sustainable BLKB-ESAF payment wristbands from vegan apple leather. The payment function can be activated with just a few clicks via an app.
Based on the idea of a prepaid card as a "green giveaway", sponsors of the event can load certain amounts of money onto the wearables for their guests, which can be redeemed during the festival days. After the ESAF, each festival wearable can be converted into a full payment wearable with just one click.
