The annual Miss Germany Awards are traditionally suspected of feeding a sterotypical female perception. That women always need to look beautiful is a common mindset that has long been outdated, although it should not be a stigma if one (m/f/d) looks good. Even politicians, who (as role models) encourage people to change their attitudes, spend a lot of money on looking as attractive as possible on the screens, with body-hugging outfits and eye-catching shoes. So how can 'Looking good' / 'Looking handsome' be something reprehensible?
Nevertheless, especially for the upcoming International Women’s Day on March 8, a change in thinking and acting is appropriate. The organizers of the Miss Germany Contests, for example, also favor a new event concept that goes beyond the outdated traditional beauty contest. Since 2019, women who take responsibility deserve this award in Germany. This past weekend, the Grand Final 2023 of the Miss Germany Contest delighted the audience with a colorful mix of new experience moments, just in line with the organizers' mission: tolerance and diversity.
The winner, Kira Geiss (20), was handed a new, more powerful "Female Leader Award", instead of the traditional glittering beauty crown. And there were many other innovations.
